Northeast Awaits Massive Winter Storm
A severe winter storm could bring as much as three feet of snow to some areas of the Northeast this weekend, with snowfall expected to increase by Friday afternoon.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a blizzard watch throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. In addition, a winter storm watch has been issued as far north as Maine to as far west as Michigan.
Coastal communities in the region could also experience hurricane force winds by Friday late afternoon. NWS has issued a hurricane force wind watch from the Merrimack River in Massachusetts to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, and along the Maine coast.
The heavy snow and high winds are likely to lead to widespread power outages in the region. Safely keep the power running during the oncoming storm by operating a generator using guidance from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS).
